The next game of developers of Ghostwire Tokyo is not a horror game, says Mikami

Ghostwire Tokyo is a completely different game than the Evil Within series of Tango Gameworks. But it does not look like the Japanese studio return to his survival horror roots, as Shinji Mikami has confirmed that the next game of Tango GamesWorks will not be a horror game.

Talking to Famitsu in an interview, which was translated by VGC, Mikami confirmed again that John Johanas, the director of The Evil Within 2, works at the next game of the studio, which is the “complete opposite of horror”. This makes it the second game in a row from the studio that does not fall into the horror genre, as Ghostwire Tokyo has already made progress from the genre. Mikami names it an “action-adventure game in the arcade style”, which in our opinion corresponds to our Ghostwire Tokyo Test.

This shift from the studio is due to the fact that Mikami and Tango want to be considered as a studio that can create more than just survival horror games.

Ghostwire: Tokyo - Before You Buy
Mikami leads much of these experiments that they perform in new genres, on subscription services such as Game Pass, which enable the studio to create smaller projects, and enable new team members to develop their own ideas for projects.

It’s a bit disappointing to know that we probably will not get the Evil Within 3 so soon, but it’s good to know that Mikami and Tango do not rest on their laurels and always want to make the same kind of experience on the new.
